Working Party Report - March 2014

A magnificent turn-out for the first working party of the year. We now have a very decent 'green site' area on the plot adjacent to the gun club parking area. See pictures of before and after! [and a map of the new ‘green composting’ area]

New signs have been erected to discourage domestic and other waste being unnecessarily dumped on the original waste site. Signs have been erected to direct plot holders to recycle as much 'green' waste as possible and also sort hardcore, metal and wood to designated areas.

Although the signage is clear, if anyone has any doubts about what to leave on the waste site, they should always check with one of the committee members.

Once again, I wish to express my sincere thanks to those plot holders who gave up part of their Saturday morning to make a contribution to the Alric Allotments. Plot number signs were made and painted, wood and timber was tidied and a green site was created - not bad for a couple of hours work.

The next stage of the process will be attempted on the next working party (Saturday 12th April). We aim to reduce the existing waste pile so that we will only require one grab lorry, which will be scheduled at the end of April.

Once the waste site is clear we intend to contain the manure and wood chip dump sites into smaller, but tidier areas.
